Paul McCartney has always been my favorite Beatle. In my opinion he was the best singer and wrote the best songs. At the Grammy Awards he sang one of his new songs, his voice noticeably changed. He sounded older and tired.
Wow, how he has aged! His entire face seemed to sink into itself and hang there like a wet rag. But that's okay because he still has his voice... kind of.
While you can still tell that it's Paul, he sounds aged. His singing days seem like they will soon be over. His vocal chords are just too worn out. Shame to see one of the most influential figures in music history fading.
However, he was still good at guitar, as instruments get easier to play over time. He also made no mistakes on the piano. There's one positive effect of time. :)

Jack White
To my extreme devastation, the legendary band the White Stripes broke up about a year ago. But recently I discovered that Jack White is making music by himself, as well as the Racounteurs and The Dead Weather. In January I searched 'Jack White' on iTunes and an unfamiliar song came up, called "Love Interruption."
I had very high expectations for this new song. I bought it, sure that it would be amazing, and to my displeasure it was not amazing. It was good, but I felt like there was no bridge or chorus, because the music provided by the instruments was constant the whole time. The lyrics were good and his voice is unique, but I found myself spacing out at one point becuase it all sounded the same.
But I still love Jack White. And I know he'll prove himself one day when he releases his first hit. He could have a great solo career that could define him more than the White Stripes ever did. Good luck, Jack!

54th Annual Grammy Awards
As most people know, the 54th Annual Grammy Awards aired on national television last night. Famous singers and producers from all over the world gathered in the Staples Center to take part in this culturally iconic event. Adele won the most Grammy Awards this year, having multiple nominations for tracks in her album, '21.' Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Chris Brown and Mumford and Sons.
Adele definitely deserved all of her awards. She made herself one of the biggest names in the music industry this past year, which should be recognized. Not to mention her incredible vocal chords, which are rarely found in modern music. I mean, Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian talk their music, and auto-tune it later. No wonder they didn't get anything.
And as for Chris Brown... even if he's a woman-beater, his performance was incredible. Rihanna's and Coldplay's performance together was weak in comparison. Chris Brown's dancing skills and fancy stage made up for the vulgar lyrics of his music selection. That was my favorite performance of the night, and i don't even listen to his music. Well done, Chris.

Nirvana vs. Bowie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZWhiVqMtT0&feature=related
Nirvana, an influential band of the 1990's music scene, produced a cover of 'The Man Who Sold the World' by David Bowie. Lead singer Kurt Cobain's darker, sadder sounding version of this song definitely topped the original. I mean, we all love ourselves some Bowie, but sometime's he's just too weird. Even in the original version of this song he sounds distant and odd.
Bowie contrasts with Nirvana in that he was much more influential in the world of pop music. Nirvana always fit the rock category, and sometimes grunge. So naturally they appeal to different people, which could be creating a bias in my preference. They also peaked in popularity in different eras.
I respect both David Bowie and Nirvana. They are both two icons in American music and deserve credit for being, um, ridiculously fantastic. However, I strongly believe that Nirvana's version of 'The Man Who Sold the World' is better.

'Hot Fuss' - The Killers
'Hot Fuss', the Killers's first album, has to be one Brandon Flowers's most famous albums. It produced 4 hits that would later become singles. And it's not one of those albums where every song sounds the same, so it never gets old.
Brandon Flowers of course was the main supplier of lyrics. I mean, he's the only one of the Killers who made a name for himself alone. Brandon released the hit song 'Crossfire' a couple years back. What did the other members do? Nothing.
But I still have to give the other members some credit for sounding amazing behind Brandon. It's not every day that a great singer chooses you to make noise behind him. And some of the guitar solos are okay. But overall 'Hot Fuss' is timeless and fun.
